MHA #13- Monday Morning

It had been a nice New Year's Eve with Cutter in the apartment. At some point, they both had fallen asleep on the couch together. The sun was just coming up when Connor woke up and realizing going back to sleep wasn't going to happen he got up from the couch. After pulling the blanket up around Cutter and making sure he was in a semi-decent position on the couch, Connor made his way to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. And with that done he staggered out to the balcony and sat down. He glanced down at the ankle monitor and took a long drink of his coffee as he watched the sun come up.




(Post is open if anyone wants to send a text or stop by- door is locked but knocking is perfectly acceptable if anyone wants to visit! And boyfriend has been modded with permission!)

"Aye we've definitely earned it, its a fresh start, we can take the day to relax before we start working on class later," Cutter smiled, "it should be a good class this semester,"

"Definitely looking forward to it! I have a week before classes start up so it will be good to have the downtime" Connor said as he looked across the table and smiled. "We have a lot to look forward to!"

"We definitely do," Cutter smiled, "especially being able to read all those new magazines that you got me for Christmas and ...." he darted a glance back at the keyboard in the flat, "and I want to start playing again," he said softly.

Connor smiled at that. "Aye, these months are going to fly by before we know it! And we are going to have so much accomplished it will seem like no time at all. And you know I am here with you every step of the way too Nick."

Cutter gave a small smile at that, "thank you," he said quietly, "I know we're going to achieve so much together and then we'll be able to go to your graduation and that dig we talked about," he said, his smile widening.

"Oh that's right, the dig!" Connor said, breaking into a broad grin. "That is going to be amazing, no matter where we end up going! I've always wanted to go to an actual dig site..."

"I'll make some calls, I'll get us on a really good dig," Cutter promised, "maybe one to Africa or Australia?" he considered with a tilt of his head as he smiled at Connor.

Connor's grin got bigger, if that was even possible as he thought about that. "Oh either of those places would be amazing, Nick! Really, anywhere would be amazing as long as we got to do it together. But a really nice dig would be a good way to cap off all the studying and finish off the classes and university studies and all!"

Cutter smiled at seeing Connor's grin, "I'll start making some calls," he promised, "its been a while since I've been on a dig, it will give us something to look forward to once we're done with house arrest and we can celebrate your graduation,"

"Thanks Nick, it's still kinda amazing to think about...actually finishing school and all after everything. I'm glad I get to do this with you here!"

"I'm glad that I can do this with you as well," Cutter smiled over at Connor, "you deserve this, I know how hard you've worked to achieve this,"

"Funny how much anomalies, dinosaurs, and certain people can derail graduation plans" Connor said with a small laugh, not wanting to mention certain names though it was fairly obvious who he was referring to. "It's good to have something nice to look forward to at the end of all this."

Cutter grinned at that, "its been a lot hasn't it?" that was an understatement Cutter, "but we got through the worst of it and it will be a nice way to finish house arrest, us going on a dig and not having to worry about certain people breathing down our necks while we go on a nice dig,"

"Agreed! Though I think we still need to work with Lester so we can drag Becker with us," Connor said with a conspiratory grin. "He would love it, and after all this house arrest nonsense, he will deserve it as much as we do!"

"Oh we so have to do that," Cutter grinned, "Becker would love going on a dig, I wonder if we could get him to do the licking a rock test again?"

Cutter was never going to let that go, no.

"Ya know... I think between the two of us we could manage to convince him to do it at least once" Connor laughed.

Sorry Becker you don't stand a chance against the two of them!

He really didn’t.

Cutter grinned at that, “aye, I definitely think between the two of us we can get a repeat, Becker doesn’t know what’s missing out on,”

Connor smiled. It felt good to be able to just sit and relax for a change, talk about the future and enjoy time together. It was day one of several months that lay ahead of them, but he was going to take it one day at a time and today was shaping up to be a good day.

Cutter returned that smile as he settled in his chair, taking a moment to enjoy just how nice it was that he could take this moment with Connor, he drank his coffee and was looking forward to the year ahead after the challenges of last year.
