MHA #16 - Sunday Morning

Yesterday’s date had gone well, and last night was amazing. Just hanging out at Cutter’s, watching movies, eating junk food, and eventually falling asleep… it had been a simple yet perfect date. And Connor had been touched by how much Cutter had tried to make sure everything they did was something he would like and enjoy. That meant a lot to him, so when Connor awoke early that morning and saw Cutter still passed out in the bed next to him, he had an idea of how he could return the favor and do something special for Cutter now.

“Breakfast in bed,” he said to himself with a smile as he glanced back at Cutter. “Perfect!”

So, slipping out of bed as quietly as he could, Connor made his way to the kitchen. He examined the fridge and the cabinets for a couple of minutes. Cutter really did need to go shopping, and soon! But eventually, Connor found everything he needed, at least he thought so…he’d never tried to make pancakes before, but really how hard could it be?

And so he started pulling out mixing bowls and random measuring cups and gathered up the ingredients and got to work. It…. was not going as well as he had hoped. A couple of the eggs ended up cracking when they hit the floor. There was flour everywhere, which meant when Connor went into the living room to get his phone to look something up, he accidentally tracked flour all over the carpet. He forgot to use the cooking spray with the first batch he tried to make, and so they had ended up more burnt than anything. And honestly, he was not exactly being stealthy about the process easier, his usual klutziness coming into play at least a couple of times.

“Ok, this is good… this is fine… I can work with this…”Connor was muttering to himself as he tried to clean up the batter that had spilled out of the bowl just then as he started the next batch of what he hoped would be edible pancakes.

Yesterday had been such a nice day, it had been perfect spending it with Connor, enjoying a nice dinner and a movie and then to finish it Connor spending the night.

He woke up to find the bed empty, so he wondered where Connor had gotten to and then he heard a noise coming from the kitchen and he eventually made his way over.

“What’s … er … um … what’s all this?” he asked with a fond smile as he took in the current disaster that was his kitchen.

Connor turned around quickly the bowl of batter sloshing a little in his hands as he did. He stared at Cutter, blinking slightly in surprise.

"Nick! I... umm you're awake!"

Yes Connor that was the obvious part and not at all the answer to Cutter's question.

Cutter watched with an amused expression, “I am awake, yes,” he grinned, “I heard a lot of noises coming from the kitchen, I was starting to think it was a velociraptor,”

His smile widened, “so what’s going on in here?”

"Ummm well... I..." Connor turned and looked around at the kitchen then back to Cutter. "It was... supposed to be breakfast in bed... Gues that kinda didn't work out."

Cutter blinked a bit at that, no one had ever tried to make him breakfast in bed before, Helen and Stephen had not been the type for grand gestures like that and he smiled fondly at Connor, "you did this for me?" he looked around at the kitchen at Connor's attempt, "I ... no one's done this for me before," he admitted, ducking his head slightly.

"Well, I mean... technically, that still stands that no ones made you breakfast in bed yet," Connor said with a somewhat defeated sigh. "BUt yeah... wanted to do something special for ya.... failed again, but yay for effort?' he said with a somewhat self-deprecating tone.

"This is special for me Connor," Cutter said gently as he walked over to Connor, careful to not step in any of the mess on his way over, "you know I'm sure we can salvage this, I'm sure it will taste just fine, even if it's not quite the same as breakfast in bed," he considered.

Connor looked over at Cutter as he made his way across the bit of a minefield the kitchen had become, a surprised grin spreading over his face. "Yeah? You... you still wanna?" Sorry Cutter, Connor was still a bit used to a successful date often times ending up a disaster so.... he had all but given up on this panning out.

"I still do," Cutter assured him, "we'll get this cleaned up in no time and finish the rest of breakfast together," he smiled and he leaned into give Connor a hug to show that he did mean what he said.

Connor returned the hug and nodded. "Aye, I can get it cleaned up. Hopefully, there's enough to salvage too, though.... you really do need to do some shopping, Nick." He gave a small smirk because he knew what the state of his own fridge and pantry were like and he really didn't have room to talk.

"I'm going to help you too," Cutter added, just in case Connor thought he'd have to do it alone, "and I can't remember the last time I went grocery shopping, I'll have to fix that soon," he admitted, "I guess there wasn't a lot to work with huh?" he said with a sheepish grin.

"Aye selection was a bit limited" Connor agreed and then gave a small smirk. "But judging by how well this attempt went, probably for the best I didn't have more things on hand to make a mess with!"

He gave a small laugh and then leaned over and kissed Cutter's cheek softly then started looking at the mess he had made, trying to think of where best to start.

“Well, I’ll look into making sure my fridge is properly stocked,” Cutter promised, going slightly red at the kiss on the cheek, he surveyed the kitchen, “so where do you think we should start?”

Connor pondered for a minute. The floor was a mess and they would likely end up tracking it all over if they left it for much longer.... But the counters were bad too and there was batter still dripping onto the floor ....

"Maybe divide and conquer?" he asked with a small shrug. "I'll start on the floor and you can work on the counters?"

“Divide and conquer, sounds like a plan,” Cutter grinned as he carefully made his way to the cupboard under the sink and started getting everything out that they needed for the cleaning tasks ahead of them.

Connor nodded and watched Cutter get the supplies out. He really did try hard not to stare at the very nice view he was given as Cutter bent down to grab the things from under the sink.

What? He had eyes, and Cutter was right there in front of him! Wasn't his fault!

(It was totally your fault for staring Connor)

Cutter slowly stood up, maybe he had an inkling to the kind of view that he was providing for Connor right then and was taking his time deliberately so that Connor could enjoy staring a bit more.

He turned around, cleaning supplies in hand and noticed Connor staring, "is there something wrong?" he asked with a head tilt and a rather amused and totally innocent expression.

"Hummm?" Connor said, trying to act innocent. "Oh, here... let me help you with those..." Connor said as he reached out to get some of the bottles and rag from Cutter, his cheeks turning a nice deep shade of red just then.

Cutter smiled fondly at Connor trying to act innocent as he handed over the bottles and rag to him, "thank you," he said, "between the two of us, we'll have this cleaned up

Connor nodded and grabbed a few things, and just chose a spot to start working on. The entire floor was going to need a good scrubbing, so he just picked a corner and started working.

While Connor started on his end, Cutter started on wiping down the benches. It was a bit of a juggling act with how many plates and bowls were already out but he figured if he could at least get a start on the spilled batter and stop it dripping to the floor that would definitely be a help.

"Dang it all... never realized how sticky pancake batter could be" Connor said as he was on his hands and knees, in the middle of the kitchen, trying to scrub the batter off the tile of Cutter's kitchen floor before it had time to dry.

Cutter couldn't help but laugh at that, turning slightly to look at Connor, "well that's why it usually does go in the pan," he grinned, "you're not supposed to get it on the floor,"

That was very helpful Cutter.

"Thank you Captian Obvious," Connor said with a mock glare as he turned and glanced over his shoulder. He couldn't hold it though as he locked eyes with Cutter, a grin spreading over his face.

Cutter locked eyes with Connor and tried to look innocent but he started giggling again, "just trying to be helpful," he really, really wasn't.

Connor didn't break that gaze as he reached over and grabbed one of the rags from beside him and tossed it at Cutter, a grin spreading across his face just then as he couldn't hold it back anymore and started to laugh as well.

"Hey, I didn't mean get it over me instead!" Cutter burst out laughing as the rag hit him and fell to the floor, he bent down to pick up and threw it back at Connor even though it was a very poor attempt at throwing.

Connor laughed and dodged the incoming rag bringing himself closer to Cutter as he did. Shifting back to his knees, he circled a finger, motioning for Cutter to come closer.

"You got a little something... right there.." he said with a vague wave toward Cutter's face.

Cutter grinned, moving closer to Connor and bent down to be eye level to him, "oh, what do I have on me?" he asked as he tried to follow the direction that Connor was pointing at his face to see if he could find what he was.

"Little something... right... there," Connor said reaching out his hand before leaning in and kissing Cutter instead.

Cutter did very much like this kind of helping and he happily leaned into the kiss, throwing his arms around Connor and forgot all about the cleaning that they were doing.

Funny how that worked.

Very odd how that worked. Total mystery. They just might have to count breakfast a loss at this rate and order something in. But that was a problem for later, right now... all Connor wanted to do was enjoy this kiss.

Cutter had completely forgotten about the food and his plan to salvage it so they could enjoy breakfast but like the narrative suggested that was a problem for a future Cutter and Connor and for now he wanted to enjoy this very nice kiss between them and keep it going as long as possible.

Connor likewise was in no hurry to end this. And to prove that point he wrapped his arms around Cutter, gently grabbing hold of the undershirt he was wearing and pulled him down closer.

Cutter was very happy to follow Connor's lead, welcoming his tight embrace and hungrily leaning into the kiss, this was definitely so much nicer than cleaning.

So much nicer.... though his knees were starting to protest the hard tile flooring a bit. Connor tried to ignore it and focused on the kiss, trying to shift slightly to get in a more comfortable position.

Cutter felt Connor trying to shift position and tried to adjust his position slightly so Connor would have an easier time to move, it was actually rather impressive how he managed to keep the kiss going while trying to do that.

Was very, very impressive. Connor gave a small contented sigh as he broke the kiss just long enough to take a deep, shuddering breath before whispering out Nick's name and going back in to continue the kiss. They would have to stop eventually... but Connor didn't want that to be any time soon.

It was rather annoying that breathing was a necessity wasn't it? When Connor broke the kiss long enough to breathe, Cutter took the opportunity to do the same, "I love you," he whispered softly, before leaning back into the kiss to keep it going as long as possible.

The kitchen really wasn't going to get cleaned anytime soon was it?

"We really... should... be getting... back... to the... cleaning..." Connor said between quick little kisses. He was trying. Failing. But trying at least!

"Mmmm...?" Cutter blinked distractedly in between those kisses, "oh right cleaning, we really should, shouldn't we? Don't want all that batter mix to get stuck right?"

Cutter was making no move to stop though, funny that.

It was probably a poor indication that Connor was trying to be the responsible one just then... Trying was the key word there as he still was barely making any progress to actually getting them back focused on the task at hand.

Cutter was a terrible influence and made very poor decisions so it was a good thing that someone was actually trying to be a responsible adult.

Note he was still not making any effort to stop and get back to the task at hand, kissing Connor was oh so very nice and he didn't want it to stop.

"How about a compromise? We stop ths for now. Get the kitchen cleaned up. Then we can continue this someplace a little more comfortable?' Connor asked between kisses.

"That sounds fair," Cutter admitted, however reluctantly, "I suppose the kitchen isn't going to clean itself and the floor isn't the most comfortable of places," he said with a slight grin as he got in a few more kisses.

Connor grinned, running a had up to run cutters face gently.

"Ill be sure to make it worth it" he said with a wink.

Cutter flushed slightly at Connor’s gentle touch and he smiled warmly, “oh is that a promise?”

"Always," Connor said softly, returning the smile.

“Then I’m looking forward to it,” Cutter said warmly, taking one more opportunity to smile at Connor, give him another quick kiss and then reluctantly stood up, extending his hand over to Connor to help him up.

Connor stood with a nod of thanks as he felt his cheeks flush a little from that last kiss.

"Alright... cleaning. Let's get this done with."

And the sooner the better because Connor was realizing just how little patience and self-control he actually had right now.

"Okay, yes, the sooner we finish the sooner we can do more enjoyable activities," Cutter grinned, his own cheeks turning red at that but he had really enjoyed kissing Connor and he wanted to get back to kissing him as soon as possible.

It was amazing though, how productive someone could be when they had the right motivation and managed to ignore distractions for the most part.

After what seemed like forever but really was not that long at all, the kitchen was basically back to where it had been before Connor had started his cooking attempt. Well, there were dishes soaking in the sink, but they could wait.

Connor turned around and gave Cutter a grin. "I do believe we are done. So, where do you want me to give you your reward?" he asked with a playful grin. Cutter had been very patient. Would be evil to make him wait just for the sake of playing with him a little.

It really was quite incredible and Cutter thought he'd done a very good job, considering what was waiting for him once they were finished cleaning, he grinned, "well ...the couch is closer but the bed is probably more comfortable," he considered, the two options, "I do like the sound of the bed," he admitted.

"Bed it is then," Connor said with a grin as he reached a hand out for Cutter and started down the hall. "Hope you didn't bother making the bed before you came out" he said with a laugh.

Cutter smiled, happily taking Connor's hand so they could go to the bedroom, "you will be pleased to know that I did not make the bed," he assured him.

"Awesome, one less step to worry about," Connor said as he all but dragged Cutter down the hall. He stopped just for a moment in the doorway and gave him a soft kiss before turning and walking the rest of the way in and sitting on the edge of the bed.

Cutter was very happy to let Connor drag him down the hall to the bedroom and just as happily returned the kiss when he stopped at the doorway, taking a moment to appreciate just how nice everything was right then following him into the room and joining him on the bed.

Connor reached up and pulled Cutter close, kissing him deeply. As he did, Connor shifted, rolling over onto his back, pulling him over with him. "Love you Nick, so... very... much.."

Cutter had no problem with this whatsoever and happily leaned into the kiss, savouring every moment of the feel of Connor's lips on his, "I love you too Connor," he told him, "more than I can ever say,"

"Love you Nick. Always" Connor said softly, breaking the kiss just long enough to reach down and grab the sheet, pulling it up over their heads as he pulled Cutter closer and continued the kiss. This was definitely one of the best stats to a day Connor had ever had. And he was in absolutely no hurry to end it.
